Nominees can be either operational or asset management firms that serve the retail long-term asset management industry, i.e., mutual funds, separately managed accounts, alternative investments, hedge funds, 401(k) administrators or service providers, or any other type of firm that serves shareholders or the retirement savings and income industries. Firms (or individuals, in the category of Leadership) may nominate themselves or have a client, partner, sister company or division do so for them.
Entrants may make submissions to as many categories as they like but should be aware that judges may experience "entry fatigue." Thus, we recommend no more than two or three entries at the most. Sometimes, one entry may complement another to make a stronger case. For example, if an executive applied new media in a creative way, an entrant might want to represent that case study in both the Leadership and New Media categories.
Please, wherever applicable, quantify each entry with figures, percentages or other supporting facts as to how the person or entity contributed to the organization, the industry, asset retention/accumulation, profit margins or fund performance. Remember, judges are looking for specifics and quantitative summary details.
Each category is comprised of two main, open-ended questions. First, we ask you to give an overview of why the nominee is being submitted, in 50 words or less. Second, we ask you to summarize, in 30-40 words, the nominee's tangible impact in terms of: profit enhancements, reduced shareholder expenses, percentage increase in productivity, lightened or streamlined workflow, etc. This is also key, as the judges are looking for real results.
The judging panel, like previous years, will be comprised of neutral parties from consultancies that specialize in mutual fund and asset management operations.
Separately, if you would like to supply supportive collateral materials, you may do so.
Deadline for entries and all materials is Friday, July 18, 2008. Winners will be cited in September, both in person and in the hard-copy edition of the newsletter.
