SunGard Investment Systems has named Jack E. McArdle president of the company. He previously served as chief operating officer of the firm, which specializes in investment accounting and performance measurement software applications.

Bowne Digital Solutions has hired Sharon Schay as product marketing manager. She will oversee the development of the firms' communications products for the retirement services, mutual fund and brokerage industries. Schay previously directed client education and communication programs for the retirement plan services group of United Asset Management.

Fidelity Investments announced that Raymond J. Marcinowski will lead a new unit in Japan to assess and develop the firm's defined contribution system in that country. Marcinowski, who was most recently president of Fidelity Advisor Group, will be president of the new unit, to be named Fidelity Group Pensions - Japan.

Turner Investment Partners has named Christopher J. Perry a senior security analyst. He will follow the financial services sector for all the firm's equity investments, which include six institutional portfolios and five mutual funds.

Liberty Financial Companies has appointed L. Harrison (Hal) Thayer vice president of corporate communications. He will be responsible for leading the firm's corporate positioning and communications strategy, public relations, employee communications and corporate branding. Previously, Thayer led the marketing and communications department of GE Capital's Financial Guaranty Insurance Company unit.

Putnam Investments named Louise R. Kuo to the new position of managing director, corporate marketing. Kuo has been senior vice president, marketing and strategy with Prudential Investments. She is expected to join Putnam in January.
