Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Plans Millennium-Based Fund

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter of New York is planning to offer a mutual fund that will invest in companies that are expected to do well in the economic environment of the new millennium, according to an SEC filing.

The fund will be called the Morgan Stanley Dean Witter 21st Century Trend Fund.

It will invest at least 65 percent of its assets in "companies of any asset size that are expected to benefit from the development of a modern worldwide economy which will be driven by changing economic, demographic and social trends in the new millennium," the filing said.

The industries that will be targeted include media, telecommunications, computers, biotechnology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, entertainment and home products, the filing said.
