Most Investors Are Undaunted by Volatility, Survey Shows

Most investors - 88 percent - continue to believe in long-term investing, according to a survey conducted April 6 by Charles Schwab & Co. of San Francisco in response to sharp fluctuations in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq Composite Index.

Only 12 percent said the recent gyrations in the market have shaken their long-term confidence in mutual funds and the stock market, according to the survey of 500 Schwab customers.

In addition, 95 percent of those polled said they believe the stock market remains the best long-term investment and 60 percent said they had made no changes to their investments in reaction to the markets, Schwab said.
