The Investment Company Institute of Washington D.C. will hold its first overseas conference this fall in Asia, according to Michael Bannon, a conference registrar with the ICI.

The conference, "Mutual Funds and Investment Management in Asia," will be held in Hong Kong Nov. 7-9. It will cover the legal and regulatory issues concerning product and distribution channel development in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and India. Topics will include strategies for marketing offshore funds in Asia, managing pension assets, tax issues for mutual funds and their shareholders and establishing a presence or local partnerships. Speakers will include Anthony Neoh, a former chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, as well as regulators from other countries.
