International Fund Manager of the Year Named

Tweedy, Browne Company of New York has been named International Fund Manager of the Year for 2000 by Morningstar of Chicago, according to Tweedy, Browne.

The managers of the Tweedy, Browne Global Value Fund received the award due to last year's performance of the fund, according to Morningstar. But while the Morningstar title is typically given to a fund that has performed well in the current year, it would not be given to a fund without a proven long-term track record, according to Kunal Kapoor, an analyst at Morningstar.

The fund has had an annualized return of 16.19 percent over the past seven years. During that time period, the average return for a foreign-stock fund was 10.33 percent, according to Morningstar. In 2000, the average foreign-stock fund fell 16 percent, Kapoor said.
