Piper Jaffray Continues Expansion

U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray Asset Management has hired two analysts away from Strong Capital Management for its Milwaukee office as part of a continued expansion in research capabilities there.
Tom Eck, a securities analyst for Strong covering health care and consumer products, has joined Piper Jaffray as senior research analyst focusing on medical devices and health care services and will co-manage the Health Sciences Fund. Art Poole joins Piper Jaffray as a research analyst focusing on the Firstar MicroCap and Small- and MidCap Core Equity Funds. At Strong, Poole covered the telecommunications equipment industry.
In the spring of 1999, Piper Jaffray began an expansion of research capabilities in Milwaukee in an effort to support the firm's mutual funds, according to the company. The hiring of Eck and Poole brings the total to 8 new analysts in Milwaukee since the company began its expansion.
