CSFB Taps Bear Stearns Top Analyst

Amy Butte has left Bear Stearns, where she was a senior managing director, to join Credit Suisse First Boston. The high-profile analyst will serve as chief strategist and CFO reporting to Jeffrey Peek, vice chairman and head of the financial services division.

Shifting from an analytic to a strategic role, Butte will become actively involved at a firm she once studied from afar; at Bear Stearns, she covered the brokerage and asset management industry. In a prior position with Merrill Lynch, she covered the securities industry.

In November of last year, The Wall Street Journal quoted Butte in an article discussing CSFB's possible plans to sell Donaldson, Lufkin Jenrette Inc. At the time she pointed out that the online brokerage business was not part of CSFB's core strategy.

"Her experience as an analyst for the brokerage and asset management industry and her strong reputation within the financial services community makes her ideally suited for this role," Peek said in a statement.
