SEC Names Schock Acting Dir. of Investor Education

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Lori Schock acting director of the Office of Investor Education and Assistance. Schock, who had been deputy director of the office, replaces Susan Ferris Wyderko, who left the SEC in June after 20 years to join the Mutual Fund Directors Forum, a not-for-profit group dedicated to improving mutual fund governance.

Schock joined the SEC in 2001 as a staff attorney and special counsel to the director. Since then, she has traveled across the country conducting investor education workshops and disseminating educational materials for investors, working closely with other Federal and state agencies, as well as with consumer groups committed to improving the financial literacy of Americans.

AARP Selects Hisey as Chief Investment Officer, Treasurer & Portfolio Mgr.

AARP Financial has hired Richard "Mac" Hisey as chief investment officer and treasurer and portfolio manager of the AARP Funds. He was previously treasurer and chief financial officer of the MFS Group of Mutual Funds and senior vice president of The Bank of New York, with responsibility for global investment fund accounting and administration. He also worked for 15 years at Lexington Global Asset Managers, now ING/Reliastar, where he created the first open-ended Russian equity mutual fund in the U.S.

Belgrad Joins Affiliated's Executive Mgmt. Team

Affiliated Managers Group has selected Stephen H. Belgrad to join the company's executive management team. Reporting to Executive Vice President Seth W. Brennan, Belgrad will focus on investments in new affiliates.

"Steve Belgrad brings to AMG two decades of financial institutions and investment banking experience at Janus Capital and Morgan Stanley," said Sean M. Healey, AMG's president and chief executive officer.

Belgrad most recently was senior vice president and treasurer at Janus. Before joining Janus in 2003, he was an executive director in the financial institutions group at Morgan Stanley, which he joined in 1985.

401(k) Sales Pro McCarthy Takes New Role at Morgan

Jim McCarthy has left a retirement product and 529 college savings plan sales position with Merrill Lynch to become head of Morgan Stanley's retirement solutions unit in its retail brokerage division, in charge of IRA and 401(k) sales and marketing. He reports to Ray Harris, vice chairman in charge of managed money, insurance, retirement and trust services in the global wealth management group.

Aimee DeCamillo, who is in charge of small business retirement marketing at Merrill, has since assumed most of McCarthy's responsibilities.
