Zader Becomes Chief Exec Of UMB Fund Services
John Zader has been named chief executive officer of UMB Fund Services, taking the position only six months after joining the firm as chief operating officer.
"Since joining UMB, John has done a great job setting a clear vision for UMB Financial Services, strengthening the leadership team, improving customer relationships and driving sales success," said Peter deSilva, chairman of UMB Financial Services and COO of UMB Financial Corp. "John's extensive knowledge of the industry coupled with his strong leadership skills will serve UMB Financial Services very well for many years to come."
Before coming on board at UMB, Zader was instrumental in growing the mutual fund practice at Jefferson Wells International. He also worked as senior vice president and chief financial officer at U.S. Bancorp Fund Services.
Cochennet Accepts Post As VP at AIG VALIC
Laurel S. Cochennet is now vice president and director of consulting relations at AIG VALIC. In this new position, Cochennet will manage the firm's relationships with senior retirement plan consultants at educational, healthcare and government organizations.
Cochennet previously worked for 27 years serving the defined contribution and defined benefit consulting business at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, most recently as a principal and senior retirement consultant. Before that, she was director of marketing at Mercer Administration Center and Midwest region defined contribution practice leader at William M. Mercer. She began her career as an actuarial analyst.
American Century Names Chief Operating Officer
Barry Fink, a managing director at Morgan Stanley, will be joining American Century Investments on July 2 as executive vice president and chief operating officer, as well as a trust on the funds' board.
"Barry brings extensive investment management industry experience to his new COO position," said Jonathan S. Thomas, president and chief executive officer of American Century. "He's an extraordinary addition to our seasoned management team and will help American Century harness the collective strengths of the organization in order to accomplish our goal providing superior investment management services to clients and investors."
Before joining Morgan Stanley, Fink was an associate attorney with Seward & Kissel.
MainStay Funds Appoints Benintende as Treasurer
MainStay Funds has hired Jack Benintende managing director, treasurer and head of fund accounting, reporting to Stephen Fisher, senior managing director and chief marketing officer at parent company New York Life Investment Management and president of MainStay Funds.
"We are very excited to have Jack join NYLIM," Fisher said. "With his skills and experience, he will help us strengthen our fund accounting oversight capabilities and best practices. He will also play a critical role in enabling MainStay to expand its product shelf. Benintende comes to MainStay from Prudential Investments, where he was a vice president and assistant treasurer of mutual funds. Previously, he was a senior manager in the investment management services group at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
