Bank of New York Mellon Division Hires Murphy
Ivy Asset Management, Bank of New York Mellon's global hedge funds-of-funds unit, has hired Robert Murphy as director of its investment strategies group.
In the newly created position, Murphy will work with the global investment team and oversee investment research, product development and portfolio management processes, reporting to Sean Cumiskey, a managing director of the New York unit and the head of the investment strategies group.
Previously, Murphy was a partner with Meridian Capital Partners and a member of its portfolio management group. In this position, Murphy was responsible for event-driven and relative-value investment strategies and in charge of the firm's quantitative research and risk management functions. Before that, he had held senior fixed-income investment banking positions with A.G. Edwards & Sons, Cowen & Co., Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Bear Stearns.
"Bob Murphy is an outstanding individual and brings to Ivy a unique blend of financial markets and hedge fund investing experience," Cumisky said. "He will play an important role as Ivy helps clients navigate through these historically challenging market conditions. We are excited to integrate his talents into our global investment platform."

Jones Becomes Director, National Accounts, at DWS
DWS Investments' broker/dealer sales unit has hired Thomas A. Jones as a director and head of national accounts management, reporting to Mark Perrelli, a director and national sales manager with the broker/dealer division in New York.

With 16 years of investment management experience, Jones most recently was a managing director and senior relationship manager at Putnam Investments. Before that, he was vice president of business development at Citizens Bank Private Bank and Trust.
Pobjoy Joins PNC Global To Head International Sales
PNC Global Investment Servicing's business development group has hired Malcolm Pobjoy as vice president and head of international sales, U.S. In this position, Pobjoy is responsible for selling PNC's international services within the U.S. marketplace, as well as mapping out a plan to expand sales overseas into new markets.
"Malcolm brings a keen understanding of the market intricacies that exist within the U.S. and Europe," said William J. Salus, chief business development officer with PNC. "As we expand our worldwide presence, his experience will allow us to drive the growth of our international services."
Pobjoy comes to the firm from the London office of BNP Paribas Securities Services, where he was head of sales and relationship management. Before joining BNP in 2005, he was with Omgeo, responsible for strategic business development in Europe. He has also held positions with Citibank, Wang and Extel.
