NAVA Names Weatherford New CEO

Insurance Association Commissioner Brings Regulatory Experience

Catherine J. Weatherford has been named president and chief executive officer of NAVA, the Association for Insured Retirement Solutions, based in Reston, Va.

Weatherford arrives at NAVA from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), where she served as executive vice president and CEO for 12 years. She takes the role at NAVA after former president and CEO Mark Mackey announced his resignation in January of this year. Mackey will continue to serve in the organization temporarily to help with the transition.

At the NAIC, Weatherford created more effective financial regulatory oversight practices. Prior to her time there, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, where she served as regional manager for public affairs, focusing on workers compensation reform and anti-fraud issues.

Weatherford will assume her post at NAVA on Sept. 3.
